The tikka xp led headlamp uses 3 x aaa batteries but i used sanyo eneloop rechargeable batteries (my reviews) instead and till today i do not have any problems. The petzl tikkina headlamp is around $10 cheaper and offers many similar features as the petzl tikka headlamp, however, it only offers 250 lumens, the max beam distance is 5m less and weighs the same. A bit of marketing data ;).
